Deputy Operations Manager Job in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Job Summary: This position is responsible to support the Operations Manager (DRCongo) to facilitate grants management in the Democratic Republic of Congo and ensure adherence to standard contracting and grants oversight to the expectation of the donor agency.
Essential Functions:
  1. Assist and support matters related to financial transactions, contractual budgets, accounting of funds and reconciliation of accounts and subcontracting agreements.
  2. Assist Operations Manager (DR Congo) with capacity building of national staff in matters related to accounting and financial management.
  3. Serve as co-signature on bank accounts in the DRC when requested.
  4. Assist the Operations Manager (DR Congo) with the preparation of audits associated with projects.
  5. Assist the Operations Manager (DR Congo) with the elaboration of budgets with partners and funding agencies.
  6. Assist the Operations Manager (DR Congo) with providing financial oversight for projects in the DRC.
  7. Travel to remote locations through Congo required several times per year.
Qualifications (Required):
  1. Advanced degree in business or related field.
  2. Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a developing country.
  3. Minimum 2-3 years experience in grant management or program oversight.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Fluent in French, written and oral.
  6. Ability to interrelate with a wide range of stakeholders (donors, implementing partners, national workers, and service population).
  7. Strong computer and accounting skills particularly word, excel, database, and accounting programs.
  8. Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural adaptation.
  9. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
