Grants Support Manager Job in Liberia at Plan

Region: Liberia Location: This position is based at the Country Office in Monrovia, with extensive travel (33%) to program areas and abroad. Reports To: Country Director, Plan Liberia Closing Date: Friday 18th November, 2011 Assignment Length: 5 year contract Salary: The salary range for this role will be US$40-50,000 per annum depending on experience. This is an accompanied position and full expat benefits will be available.

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to promote and market the grants program for Plan Liberia, as well as successfully manage the acquired funding to the utmost satisfaction of the donors. The successful candidate will be a person with proven and practical experience in grants funded community based and sustainable programs.
Reporting to the Country Director of Plan Liberia , the Grants Support Manager will have a delegated authority for expenditure up to $100K. You will be a member of the Country Management Team and be the main contact person for National Organisations for all grants-related affairs. You will also be responsible for the management, coaching and development of the grants team at Country Office.
Located at the Country Office in Monrovia, there is an expectation that the post holder will travel extensively (33%) to program areas and abroad.
This will be an accompanied position and a five year assignment.
Fluency in English required.
Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position: •Monitor and report Grants income and expenditure to support management decision making •Provide advisory services to Plan Liberia •Translate grants systems requirements from all parts of the organisation, into clearly specified functional requirements supported by a business case for investment •Identification and mitigation of global and systemic risks associated with grants •Initiate and establish strategies to attract donor interests to Plan Liberia Country
•Develop attainable annual grants business plans. •Work closely with the program department to develop/prepare concept papers and project proposals that meet donor expectations. •Establish a grants tracking mechanism in order to effectively follow up grant activities and to determine progress and make decisions where further action is needed. •Promote good networking and establish professional relationships/partnerships with all the stakeholders within and outside of Plan. •Contribute to institutional learning by thoroughly documenting and sharing best practices relating to grants management. •Represent Plan Liberia in various and relevant functions, conferences, workshops. •Support marketing and PR campaigns

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives: Qualifications and Experience •A university degree in sociology or the social sciences or equivalent. •An advanced university degree (Masters) in an advantage •Background training, skills, and knowledge in general grants and community development processes is also an advantage •Demonstrable, progressive work experience in this or related discipline with a recognized institution •Experience of grants compliance requirements for more than one development aid donor •An established track record of implementing process and systems changes.
