Project Manager - Panzi Hospital Job in DR Congo

The SSV-project at the Panzi Hospital has been providing medical and psychosocial assistance to survivors of sexual violence and women in need of specialised gynecological care since 2004. During this period the project has admitted more than 24 000 patients whereof more than 14 000 have been survivors of sexual violence. The current phase of the project ends on 31 December 2011 and the next, ninth, phase is scheduled to commence on 1 January 2012.
The objective of the action is to provide post sexual violence care and secondary gynecological care to vulnerable urban and rural populations in South Kivu. In previous phases the project has provided care to up to 300 patients each month at the Panzi Hospital and the next phase will have similar numbers. The project is currently investing in developing systems to assure the quality. The project will furthermore increase the attention given to providing holistic post sexual violence care and support to reinsertion of patients in their families and communities.
The project is implemented in partnership between Panzi Hospital and PMU (the Swedish Pentecostal Relief and Development Agency). The project manager will work closely together with the local project management team consisting of a deputy project manager and a medical coordinator. Together the management team will supervise the project staff of around 80 people. The project manager will report to PMU’s humanitarian coordinator for DRC in Stockholm.
