Liberia WASH Consortium Advocacy & Communications Coordinator

USD$18,900 per annum gross
Fixed-term 14 months.
This is a National position and Liberian Nationals are eligible to apply.
The WASH Consortium, established in 2007, is a group of five international NGOs, namely Action Contre La Faim (ACF), Concern Worldwide, Oxfam GB (lead agency), Solidarites International and Tearfund, working together to improve access to safe water, adequate sanitation and hygiene education for all Liberians. The Consortium focuses on three pillars: Service Delivery, Capacity Building, and Advocacy and Communications.
The role
To plan and deliver targeted and effective campaigns which will increase access to quality water and sanitation facilities and hygiene awareness in line with the Government of Liberia development targets, and promote the consortium model as a valuable way of supporting development. This programme falls within the context of a global Oxfam International focus on access to essential services, and should link to and draw on international campaigning whilst influencing the development of policy and advocacy approaches at global level.
What we’re looking for
Essential Good facilitation, training and presentations skills, particularly in conducting workshops with wide range of actors at both national platforms and field level meeting
An understanding of campaigns and movements in an African setting, and a good grasp of the functioning and relationships of key players in development, including Southern governments, donor governments, international institutions, and civil society.
Knowledge of development finance and donor processes.
Sound political judgment and sensitivity, and proven experience of engaging with and influencing decision-makers.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage complex and sensitive organisational relationships.
Proven experience of programme management, including project design, budgeting and financial reporting, partner and grant management, monitoring and evaluation.
Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to promoting gender equity and the interests of marginalised people in all advocacy work.
Enthusiasm for and commitment to Oxfam International’s values and mission.
Ability to work independently and think innovatively and strategically, as well as collaborate within a team.
Language requirement: English
Desirable
Technical knowledge of Liberia development policy and / or of policy issues related to access to basic services.
Familiarity with national, global or regional campaign networks working on essential services and development financing.
Proven skills in effective media relations and experience in talking directly to media organisations.
Experience of developing fundraising Experience of planning, conducting or commissioning research.
