Country Director Ethiopia Job at Oxfam

Reporting to the IO Regional Director and to OI Country Director after the Go Live (april 2012).
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the building of the Transition Plan, Improvement Plan and Countdown Phase with other Oxfam affiliates, provide the regional strategic vision and contribute to the various units in the International Cooperation Department in IO. Manage the execution of strategic planning (approval and execution of projects and programmes, and other campaign and advocacy activities) and operative planning (staff incorporation, organization changes, implementation, etc.) Represent Intermón Oxfam (IO) in Oxfam Ethiopia and other key agents (i.e. other international agencies, local organizations, local governments, the Spanish Embassy, national and Spanish media, donors, etc.) in the country and occasionally within the region. After the Go Live, the representation role will change. Propose and implement fundraising activities in the country depending on IO priorities. Ensure that the office complies with Intermón Oxfam's legal obligations in Ethiopia, as well as with the organization's Human Resources and Internal Management policies in general. Guarantee the definition and implementation of an efficient system of monitoring and evaluation for the different humanitarian and development programmes directly executed or with partners. Ensure the fulfilment of the evaluation systems and procedures established by the organization. Ensure accountability to Regional Management in HECAM (Horn, East and Central Africa and Mozambique). Manage office staff: recruitment and team development, induction, performance management and staff skills assessment. Ensure the security management for all the country team.
Experience and Skills
Five year' experience at a high responsibility post in a development or humanitarian organization (National or international NGO, or other civil society organization) preferably in Ethiopia. Person with thorough knowledge of the country. Experience working with Oxfam International will be valued. University degree. Experience and knowledge of formulation, assessment and evaluation of cooperation projects and programmes in rural contexts. Experience in staff management and development. Experience in financial planning and budget control. Capacity for critical analysis of the reality and strategic vision, preferably for Ethiopia.-10 ext Proficiency in written and spoken English; Amharic will be an advantage. Computer skills (Office, Internet, e_mail). Driving licence and availability to travel.
Working Conditions
Contract of employment: 1 year contract, provided by Intermón Oxfam. Working hours: 40h a week. Working hours depend upon the functions to be conducted. Availability of dedicating some weekends (working day recoverable) Expatriate Gross Annual Salary (44.660 #) + per diem Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution
