Finance Manager (Africa and the Middle East) Jobs in South Africa

The Africa/Middle East (AME) Finance Manager will play a critical role in providing support and management of financial accounting, reporting, and adherence to HFHI policies and procedures by the AME Branch and National Organizations (NO) in the area. This key position will be responsible for significantly contributing to the AME’s Area senior management for Area planning through development and maintenance of a management information system, assisting the Area’s senior management in making timely and relevant decisions, and administering, developing and managing policies. We’re looking for passionate, high energy people with a strong desire to serve others, exceptional communication skills, and exhibit solid project and people management skills.
The role will be primarily focused on supporting our Area Office, National Organizations, and Branches by:
  1. Monitoring and ensuring all HFHI Branch/NO financial operations are carried out according to HFHI policies/procedures, accepted International accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and within local laws.
  2. Coordinating the planning, preparation and completion of HFHI Branch Audits in line with HFHI external audit policy whilst ensuring that all timelines are met.
  3. Reviewing External and Internal Audit management letter recommendations with AME Strategic Program Team (SPT), and Country Support Teams (CST).
  4. Reviewing budget submissions to monitor the appropriateness of budget submission in scale and use of resources in comparison with the existing budget, operations and year-to-date financial statements.
  5. Quarterly reconciliation of HFHI HQ, HFHI Area Offices and HFH Global Funding Network transfers for each NO to ensure accuracy of account posting by HFHI Branches and NO.
  6. Supporting AME Grant Manager in ensuring accountability and compliance for all bilateral and multilateral grants in HFHI Branches and NO.
  7. Providing training to Branch and NO’s staff, including area-wide trainings on HFHI and grant management policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in International Accounting or Business Management
  2. At least 3-4 years Grant Accounting experience required
  3. Master's degree with a focus in Finance, Accounting, International Business or equivalent; or 7 – 10 years’ relatable experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  4. CPA/ACCA/Chartered accountant required
  5. Proficiency in MS Office Applications and experience working with several different accounting software packages
  6. A demonstrated knowledge of finance, accounting and GAAP reporting
  7. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Solid analytical skills
  8. Detail oriented and ability to work and interpret numbers, figures and other financial information
  9. Fluency (written and verbal) in English AND French essential
  10. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE A MAJOR PLUS:
  11. Between 2-4 years’ experience managing USAID grants or performing A133 audits preferred
  12. At least 3 years auditing experience a major plus
  13. Experience in installation and training on computerized accounting systems helpful
  14. Membership to professional bodies (ex: CIMA) highly preferential
  15. Ability to read and write in Portuguese added advantage
