Food Security Sector Advisor Jobs in DR Congo

Location: Eastern DRC, split between Baraka and Goma. To start: Immediate Length of contract: 1 year Unaccompanied post Tearfund is recruiting an experienced technical specialist to provide advice for the design, implementation and evaluation of our Food Security projects in DR Congo, and to oversee the ongoing improved quality of our projects and develop the capacity of our staff. Tearfund is implementing a humanitarian and recovery programme in Eastern DR Congo, focusing on Watsan, Food Security and Public Health sectors. The Food Security Advisor is responsible for supporting the field teams in the needs assess, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the FS sector activities, and to ensure strong linkage with the public health sector work on hygiene and nutrition. The role will be involved in the technical design of our seed and tool distribution, agricultural training, and livelihoods projects and monitoring quality during implmentation, as well as building the capacity of the field teams. In addition the role is responsible for managing the external advocacy activities for the FS sector targeting the UN and NGO community and Government departments. Candidates must be qualified Food Security or Agricultural Development specialists with a degree or equivalent in a related subject with experience in the design and implmentation of projects in humanitarian or post conflict recovery environments. Candidates must also be excellent communicators, able to facilitate training, mentoring and networking. Candidates must also have good analytical skills. Relevant international experience and good cross-cultural awareness are essential, combined with a genuine heart for the poor. In addition to excellent written and spoken English is required and candidates with conversational French or Swahili will be prioritised

Salary: £26,724 gross per annum plus a competitive benefits package
