IntraHealth International is currently accepting expressions of interest from potential Adolescent Health Services Advisor candidates interested in IntraHealth’s submission for the upcoming USAID-funded project to provide leadership and direction around the provision of adolescent friendly services as they relate to the scale up of family planning services in Zambia. The Adolescent Health Services Advisor will work collaboratively with staff to develop, and integrate adolescent friendly approaches into family planning services aimed at scaling up the use of these services in underserved and rural communities. S/he will work to increase the uptake of a range of methods of contraception, including long term reversible methods as well as document and disseminate approaches for scale-up. S/he will be responsible for ensuring integration of adolescent health programming in FP/RH interventions, developing project strategies for meeting the needs of adolescents and reducing the social and cultural barriers to accessing family planning services. This position will also play a lead role in transferring capacity in adolescent-friendly approaches to key local staff. The proposed Adolescent Health Services Advisor must have strong technical (academic and programmatic) experience in improving access to and uptake of family planning services for adolescents, including strategies that promote girls’ participation and empowerment. Requirements
•Nurse with a masters level degree, preferred; or advanced degree in adolescent health, gender/women’s studies, public health, international development, social sciences, or a related field. •A minimum of five years of experience in managing and/or implementing adolescent focused FP/RH programs in Zambia or Southern Africa region •Experience in planning and implementing youth programs, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data. •A demonstrated familiarity with adolescent friendly services and methodologies, and knowledge of internationally recognized evidence-based interventions to promote youth friendly FP/RH services •Excellent interpersonal communication, writing, and oral presentation skills in English. •Ability to travel up to 30% may be required.
