Deputy Chief of Party Job in Ethiopia

RTI is recruiting candidates for an anticipated education project in Ethiopia, focused on curriculum revision and textbook development. We are looking for proven performance in project management, with knowledge and experience in implementing evidence-based approaches to instructional improvement. This position will be a long term, overseas assignment in Ethiopia. ***Local candidate preferred. ***
Duties and Responsibilities This person will manage all administrative and reporting activities for the project. He/she will ensure that required reports and documentation are produced according to USAID's guidelines. Candidate should possess strong management, administrative and writing skills. Serves as RTI's alternate liaison to USAID, government counterparts, local organizations, and program partners when COP is unavailable.
Essential Job Functions • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance in the design, delivery and evaluation of technical assistance for curriculum revision and textbook development as well as capacity building. • Working through national and regional ministerial working groups to support the development technical work • Guide and provide direction for comprehensive pre- and/or in-service teacher training to improve teacher and student performance, along with associated school and system management and governance support. • Provide direct technical assistance to government counterparts, as appropriate and required. • Ensure the timely and quality completion of all technical, financial and contractual deliverables, including those related to work and implementation planning, performance monitoring, technical and expense reporting. This will involve ensuring that quality standards are monitored, met and reported. • Oversee adherence to management policies and procedures for quality assurance of communications and reporting, information outreach and dissemination to stakeholders via project website, reports, training products & materials, and other outputs.
Qualifications • Twelve years of overall experience with relevant field experience in educational development, drawing in particular from experience in teacher training, literacy and numeracy improvement, education management and governance, community mobilization, ICT in education applications, and/or assessment. • A master’s or higher degree in education or a related field desired. • Fluency in English required
