Nutritionist (Social Behavior Change Project) Job in South Sudan

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Nutritionist will, in coordination with the Nutrition Coordinator, oversee social and behavior change (SBC) nutrition activities in International Medical Corps program in Akobo/Walgak.
•Develop and manage the mother care group (MCG) and SBC components as it relates to the realities in South Sudan
•Train national staff, community health workers and leader mothers to implement the MCG program
•Ensure efficiency and results-oriented performance in the MCG component of the program
•Develop and implement a capacity building plan on the MCG component, infant and young child feeding, and SBC for local project staff and Ministry of Health (MOH) staff
•Liaise with the MOH officials and staff to build their capacity in the MCG approach to ensure sustainability
•Document all processes and outputs of capacity building, coordination and management of activities to ensure experiences and lessons are well documented for future reference
•Prepare an M&E plan for the MCG component and provide weekly and monthly progress updates to his/her reporting office(s). S/he will also submit quarterly, mid-term and final technical reports as may be required by the project documents and in a timely manner
•Work with nutrition team on developing and conducting surveys and evaluations as needed. This could include knowledge, attitudes and practices, SMART and other surveys
•Coordinate with management of acute malnutrition program for referrals between components
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
•Master’s degree in nutrition or MPH public health nutrition or SBC with nutrition focus and 5 + years of relevant work experience (minimum 3 years in developing country) or Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or relevant social and 7+ years of relevant nutrition-focused work experience (minimum 5 years in developing country)
•Solid SBC experience required
•Care group experience preferred
•Working in chronic underdevelopment settings where both acute malnutrition and stunting are significant issues of public health concern
•Very strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to take the initiative
•Knowledgeable about latest development best practices relating to nutrition such as the latest WHO changes relating to child growth standards, acute malnutrition and CMAM and latest SBC techniques and tools
•Possess proven analytical and problem solving and interpersonal skills
•Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively
•Ability to work in hardship conditions and in conflict-prone areas; ability to be flexible
•Project startup experience preferred
•Excellent oral and written communication; good computer skills, strong writing skills (in English)
LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical in the English language.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and other related regional players
