Programme Manager Job in South Africa at Habitat for Humanity International

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a Program Manager to manage and nurture HFHI’s relationship with the National Organizations (NO’s) and Branches, as assigned, in our AME Area. This vital position will ultimately coordinate and lead our efforts, in conjunction with our Area Office (AO) country teams, in supporting our NO’s and Branches as well as ensuring coherent accountability. The Program Manager promotes integration of the AO interventions of NO’s by promoting organizational growth and development, compliance with Headquarter (HQ) and AO standards in conjunction with strategic alignment of country programs.

DUTIES/AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Program Support and Coordination •Directs or coordinates the HFHI-AME support of NO and Branch Programs through effective leadership of the Country Support Teams. In collaboration with the Country Support Teams, develops and directs specific program interventions and activities by AME program support staff and follows through to ensure best practices and resources have been utilized. •Functions as the primary point of contact and provides direct support for National Directors in the AME area; Apprises the Director of Programs of outstanding challenges in the NO’s and Branches.
Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation •Consults and counsels NO’s/Branches on annual and strategic planning; coordinates AO review of annual budgets and plans.
•Monitors country performance and progress against annual plans and approved project deliverables; ensures coherence of AO feedback on quarterly reports. •Collaborates with the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to ensure compliance with HFHI/donor evaluation and review requirements.
Crisis Management •Trouble-shoots operationally-challenged NOs and/or those in transition, in partnership with Country Support Teams; responsibilities may include: •Diagnoses and resolves program or staffing issues •Ensures and Guides program re-design as needed •Serves as interim National Director during executive transition
Governance •Provides NO boards’/Branches’ Advisory Council development support, including strategic planning, organizational development, and relevant board fiduciary and program oversight responsibilities. •In the event of non-compliance, the Program Manager works with the National Director and Board of Directors or other governing body to develop remedial plans, monitors implementation and recommends disaffiliation if the remedial plans are not successful.
Resource Development and Funding •Monitors HFHI’s transfer budget for NOs/Branches. Reviews funding transfer requests for approval by Director, Programs. •Works with Resource Development & Communication and Program Specialists to develop fundraising and grant proposals; coordinates sign-off on proposals.
Personnel Development and Capacity Building •Consults to build programmatic capacity in NOs; including management structures, systems, programs, and staffing to reinforce HFHI core competencies. Coordinates capacity building and training inputs with NOs/Branches provided by AO functional departments.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Minimum 5-7 years’ experience working in a supervisory/management capacity in an International Nonprofit organization
  2. Bachelor’s degree in related field (example: International Development, International Relations, etc.)
  3. Understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation processes
  4. Strong Leadership and Management experience
  5. Proficiency in Financial Management/Budget Planning and Financial Oversight
  6. Excellent English language skills-both written and spoken
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE A MAJOR PLUS:
  1. 2-3 years’ experience in Resource Development
  2. Master’s degree in related field
  3. Grant Management experience
  4. Africa/Middle East experience
  5. Proven Interaction with Board of Directors/Governing Body Members
  6. Facilitating meetings, workshops, training seminars
  7. Knowledge of French or Arabic a bonus
