Technical Services Advisor Jobs in Botswana

PSI seeks candidates for Technical Services Advisor to provide support to PSI’s global mission. This full-time position is based in Gaborone, Botswana and reports to the Country Representative. Ideal start date: January 2012. * This position is contingent upon funding*
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide senior-level technical support to PSI/Botswana’s key functional managers in Programs, Communications & Marketing, Capacity Building & Training, Research & MIS and Innovations. The Technical Advisor will support work in planning, implementation, budgeting, and staffing activities.
•Provide tailored and sustained capacity building and mentoring to senior as well as mid-level technical/programmatic staff and governmental and non-governmental counterparts through training, coaching, and shared oversight of activities.
•Guide program staff in the design of continuously improved interventions in the areas of male circumcision, social and behavior change communications, and combination prevention program activities. Provide support to all technical staff in designing and launching innovative projects. Lead technical aspects of new business development processes, including proposal writing.
•Provide technical advice and support to the coordination of research, monitoring, and evaluation activities, ensuring close linkages between research results and programming.
•Support the preparation of annual marketing and implementation plans for HIV prevention programming, with a focus on improved efficiency and measurable health impact.
•Contribute to the development and implementation of program logframes and help set and achieve annual donor and DALY targets.
•Identify and develop technical process templates and guidelines (e.g. for creative briefs, IPC program design, training design, and research protocol development) and disseminate and train staff in their use.
•Support functional managers in maintaining regular and strong government, stakeholder, and partner relations, representing PSI as needed at local technical and programmatic fora.
•Serve as a key member of the platform’s executive team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making on a routine basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•5-7 years of relevant professional experience. Substantial field experience strongly preferred.
•Graduate degree in public health, international development, marketing, or related discipline.
•At least four years of work experience managing a team in a developing country
•Technical expertise in behavior change communication. Significant experience in the design and management of interpersonal communication programming preferred.
•Demonstrated understanding of current research and programmatic best practices in HIV prevention.
•Experience leading teams in project implementation, with demonstrated ability to motivate and build capacity of staff. Experience in training strongly preferred.
•Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
